Argulus Lice

Posted on May 23, 2015 at 2:50 PM Comments comments (0)

It has been brought to the attention of the Committee that a few pike have been caught recently with a few lice present on them from Loch Ascog.  At this stage it is unclear whether it is the Argulus Foliaceus louse but steps have been taken to try determine this.

As responsible anglers, we ALL must take steps to try prevent the further spread of this parasite. The best way to stop the spread of them is to THOROUGHLY dry any gear that comes into contact with the water for a MINIMUM 48 hours before you go fish another water. This will include nets, slings, mats and waders etc. Anglers must also follow any biosecurity measures in place at waters they may visit.

Anyone fishing Association waters should report any sightings of lice on fish, either by phoning or texting 07734263591 or by email at [email protected]
